The Methow Valley Spinners & Weavers guild, founded in 1972, aims to encourage those wishing to improve their skills in the areas of spinning and weaving by providing opportunities to learn together and share with one another. We meet weekly between Twisp and Winthrop in the beautiful Methow Valley. There are currently over 30 members, providing a wonderful variety of skills and experiences to share. Spinners and weavers of all levels are welcome.

If you have an interest in spinning or weaving and would like to learn more about the guild, please feel free to contact us, or check the calendar and drop in on one of our weekly meetings.

Even if you are not interested in learning to spin or weave yourself, but would still like an opportunity to see the work done by the guild, please join us for our annual show and sale held each November.

Guild Challenge 2011/2012

This year's challenge: Summer & Winter

After a couple years away from it, we've decided to return the focus back to a weave structure. Summer & Winter definitely generated a lot of interest during the discussion, so that's what we'll be playing with this time.

For the beginning weavers or those new to the structure: You can learn this too! It's not as complicated as it might sound, we have good books on it in the guild library, and some "resident experts" on the subject. So one way or another, we can get you started on it. Just let us know if you need some help!

For those that know it: There's always something new to learn! Summer & Winter is so versatile, there are a myriad of possibilities. Don't get bored because you're trapped in "traditional" - surprise us with some new way to use it!

Please keep records, provide everyone with a proper record sheet and, if possible, a sample OR color photo of the finished product. (Coming soon: printable record sheet)

As usual, these will make a good display for the county fair and will be fun to invent and weave.

Have fun, and GET CREATIVE!
